教育教学Education - Reading and Writing Project
On Wednesday evening, we had our Term One Parent’s Night to welcome the new and returning families. We began the evening with a special guest, Toni Bain, the Literacy Consultant from Hong Kong.本周三的晚上，我们莘庄园针对“读写计划”向全园小中大三个年龄段的家长开设了一个别开生面的工作坊，我们有幸邀请来了一个特别嘉宾，来自香港的读写计划课程顾问——Toni Bain。
She spoke about the Teacher’s College Reading and Writing Project which is the balanced literacy program being used at Victoria Kindergarten. “Balanced Literacy” is a term that is used over and over again to shorten the many aspects of literacy into two words. It includes reading, writing, word study, phonological awareness, speaking, and listening.
Toni and Teacher Tatomme started the evening by talking about the process of reading at every level, and how we teach reading in the classroom.
Toni 和Teacher Tatomme在工作坊中介绍了每个层次的阅读过程，以及老师们如何在教室里开展读书计划。
She also talked about the importance of being read too through read alouds to enhance vocabulary, interest, and comprehension.
Reading lead into writing as Toni spoke about how writing is taught in the classroom. The process of writing was also highlighted as “writing” really starts as “drawing” in kindergarten.
Toni concluded the evening by sharing parent tips for reading and writing at home. These reminders provoked many questions at the end which showed that there is great interest and support from the parents. Let’s keep reading and writing! (photo 151)
